WILDERADO SORROW

West Coast (by way of Texas and Oklahoma) band Wilderado are back in full force this year following a string of EPs in 2017 and a brief silence while they were tucked away in the studios and creative spaces of Los Angeles preparing for this next wild release. ‘Sorrow’ is strangely warm and intimate, with visceral imagery like “marrow straight to the bone”, a quiet desperation and subtle self loathing that’s very much fuelled by the urge to do one’s best. Usually positive in every aspect, Wilderado explore this new realm of emotion, propelling themselves to the inevitable end with an ever-rising volume, cranking it up with each revolution of reverb-soaked chords and thrashed drums. “I’ll let you down with sorrow’s touch” becomes a mantra for the beautiful and the damned, in a track that sees Wilderado take one step away from their Southern Americana roots and one towards indie-rock ferocity. - Hannah Thacker
